As someone who is against the use of porn, in the last couple of years I have distanced myself from social media platforms. I am a victim of social media addiction as are thousands and thousands of other people. As I was starting to distance myself from social media platforms I came across several Only Fan platforms on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and etc. They are EVERYWHERE and frankly I am sick of it. I absolutely hate opening my phone and seeing several women promote their sexual services everywhere they can solicit it.
That is not even the gist of it. Social media platforms support it! Why? Because, ladies and gentlemen, they lovvveee moneyyy. Now, let me say that I have been 100% aware of the fact that these accounts have existed for a long time but, in the last couple of years my social media algorithm has been sending me these platforms. I block them and report them. Blocking them and reporting the accounts does not make them stop appearing. Even if you report the accounts, Instagram, Facebook, and all those platforms do not take a single action to stop it from happening. Why? Again, they are corrupt and loveee their money.
Not to mention, the Only Fan platform has over 305 million users. Shocker.....NOT! Porn and prostitution has ALWAYS existed but I am tired of it. When did we as a society decide that soliciting sex services was going to be a 24/7 obsession? Why is it that we waste our time obsessing over sex? Do you have any idea on how many countless issues there is to worry about instead? I would rather educate myself with an amazing book that is beneficial to me than waste my days being brainwashed into thinking sex is the only way someone can have a fulfilling life. Which is not true by the way. Sex won't make you a better person, it won't teach you how to love others, and it won't educate you in anything useful aside from lust. Yes, yes, you are going to tell me "sex is good," "sex makes me happy," "sex helps me live out my fantasies", and "sex lets me escape my worries," and blah blah blah. Sex is not a bad thing and I am not saying it is a bad thing. What I am saying is that our lives and personal relationships with one another have suffered greatly because of porn and prostitution.
I have not created a post explicitly on the topic of porn yet but I have discussed strip clubs. If you want to understand my stance on strip clubs specifically you can read one of my older posts here:
So, what is the point of you reading this post right now? I will tell you. The real reason why I want to share this post is because I want to talk about my contributions to ATTEMPT solving the issues of porn and Only Fan accounts. There are a few ways I have started working on this problem.
Firstly, I have been trying to learn as much as I can about the issues of porn, strip clubs, prostitution, and the Only Fan platforms.
Secondly, I have been trying to contact the government to see if I can somehow make progress in regards to solving this issue. They will have a better view of the situation from within the government system considering they profit from these platforms.
Thirdly, I have started a petition on Change.org as of October 2024.
I know what you are thinking. You are probably thinking that I am out of my mind or that I am unaware of how hard it is to change our society. I am not unaware that this is not an easy task and I am not the only one that has helped in the cause of preventing these issues from happening. Changes do not always happen in large increments. They happen on small levels and hopefully they will turn into something beneficial for everyone.
If you are interested in supporting this cause please look at the petition that I have created. You can click the link here: Petition · Abolish Only Fan Platforms and Porn Sites on All Social Media Platforms - Canada · Change.org
I am so so thankful for all of the support that I have already received. I was surprised by the amount of people that have signed this petition so far. We have 57 people who have already signed and some have shared the petition.
A woman named Anita Kanitz has shared an amazing comment where she discusses the impacts of porn and prostitution in our society. Along with her own comments she has quoted several women and other people who similarly discuss the impacts that porn have.
I am not a feminist and I do not believe that all men are bad or all women are bad. I do, however agree with some of the quotes she mentioned. There are some quotes targeting men but they hold truth to them. If we want to talk about hard truths then we must look at all sides of the issues.
You can see her comment on the petition or you can view her comment here:
“The acceptance of prostitution makes all women potential prostitutes in the public view since there are only two requirements for a woman to work in a brothel: one is that circumstance has placed her so (and who knows when that can happen, to any of us?) and the other is that she has a vagina, and all women are born meeting at least one of these requirements. It bears repeating: if the commodification of women is to be accepted then all women fall under that potential remit. If a woman accepts prostitution in society, then she accepts this personal indenture, whether she knows it or not; and yes, that is a loss.”

“The truth is there is no fantasy in porn. It’s all an illusion. A closer look into the hardcore scenes of a porn star’s life will show you an act the porn industry doesn’t want you to see. The real truth is we porn actresses want to end the shame and trauma of our box office lives but we can’t do it alone.”
― Shelley Lubben, Truth Behind the Fantasy of Porn What are men good for?
"We women don't really know why men are there. To be honest, we've hardly ever asked ourselves this question. They're just there, and that's bad enough. We ask ourselves how we can best escape from them and survive them, but not what they're actually good for."
-Luise F. Pusch, feminist German linguist
"If a young woman's right to physical integrity was really taken seriously, self-defense for women would be a school subject. Instead, we still learn to adapt."
-Luisa Francia, feminist German writer
"Brothels are always problematic because no sexual services take place behind their doors! These terms such as sex work, sex worker, escort lady, sexual service provider come from the profiteers of the system, i.e. pimps, human traffickers and brothel operators. There is no sex work in such establishments, but rather rape, sex slavery, sexual exploitation and torture, sexual humiliation, physical and psychological injury through sexual and sexist violence! Every woman in prostitution knows that this is not work. Work is something different. Work also benefits society, and prostitution does not do that in any way. This is rape for money. Today, these young women are dragged here by their pimps from Romania, Bulgaria, from all poor countries around the world and from anywhere else. And then they go to work - in tears. They are not allowed to comfort them! The other brothel staff are explicitly instructed to do this. And after a few days, the girls fall silent. That is the reality. Many of them say, "I don't believe in men anymore - they are all instinct-driven pigs." Because they have experienced everything there. Catholic priests, married men of course, and fathers of families with great partners. Sex buyers must know that they are the cause of an immense problem. Buying a woman in order to exercise one's own sexuality on her is rape! The men know this too, and their perverse actions can be read in all the client forums on the internet. Painful and humiliating practices, SM, sadistic gang bangs and sex with so-called virgins, i.e. underage girls, are particularly popular with clients. It remains an unwanted sexual act for the woman. The so-called sex workers do not want that. If there was no money on the table, they would say: hands off! It remains an unwanted sexual act for the woman. They do not want that. If there was no money on the table, they would say: hands off! If there were no clients, there would be no human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation - and that is an enormous problem. The problem is made even worse by the extreme worldwide pornography of society, and with it the sexual brutality of men towards women is increasing immeasurably, with devastating consequences. Pornography is defined as the "trivializing or glorifying, clearly degrading sexual representation of women or girls in images and/or words" if it has one or more of the following characteristics: The women/girls portrayed as sexual objects enjoy humiliation, injury or pain. The women/girls portrayed as sexual objects are raped - vaginally, anally or orally. The women/girls portrayed as sexual objects are penetrated in the vagina or anus by animals or objects. The women/girls portrayed as sexual objects are tied up, beaten, injured, abused, mutilated, dismembered or otherwise victims of coercion and violence. Many porn companies say that their customers want more and more brutal acts, that no man in the world wants normal sex anymore and that is why they are flooding the global market with their extremely sadistic porn, otherwise they would not make money from it. Most porn consumers then attack the women around them and try out particularly harsh practices with so-called sex workers. These men are only interested in power and pleasure, the female person is just an object of masturbation for them and no longer a human being. In many cases the men do not give a damn whether the female person, whether underage or not, survives at all, and certainly not if she is mentally or physically injured. Prostitution and pornography are closely linked and women's and human rights activists have long considered them to be sexual hate crimes against women. Pornography has undeniably become part of Western culture, representing narratives that discuss the way subjects are seen in the social imagination, including the relationship between men and women. Considering that such relationships are characterized by male dominance, which often naturalizes violence against women, the present study started with the following guiding question: How does mainstream pornography reflect violence against women and what are its psychological consequences in this group? To this end, a bibliographic research was conducted to revisit certain historical and social moments that illustrate how violence against women was introduced and legitimized, and the influence of gender differences in maintaining the power relations of men over women, linking the information obtained with psychoanalysis. Therefore, this research aims to understand how mainstream pornography reflects violence against women and the possible psychological effects of this discourse on women. The data suggest that pornography represents violence against women that is recurrent throughout history to promote sexual arousal. This is partly because mainstream pornography is produced from a patriarchal perspective and reveals the unconscious perception of the role of women in culture. However, beyond a simple reflection of the subjects' subjectivity, the narrative produced by pornography contributes to the legitimization of violence against women and generates psychological effects related to the spread of hate speech insofar as it promotes its repression and perpetuation. In addition, the productions enforce stereotypes and behaviors that generate suffering and function as a new form of oppression of women. Prostitution is exploitation, nothing more and nothing less, just like pornography and, like it, a mainstay of the misogynistic patriarchy. While in the care work that is actually necessary for society, such as in areas of care, education or the household, it is predominantly women who work, here the labor force is not dependent on gender. In contrast, in prostitution, gender is the basis and necessary condition. Here, female bodies in particular are capitalized: men buy temporary access to the body of a woman whose sexuality must be subjected to the capitalist logic of exploitation and must therefore adapt to the current market in order to meet the wishes of the customer. The idea is to sell either an illusion of mutual desire and interest or one of non-reciprocity, one of short-term ownership, one of power over another person. In both cases, in and because of patriarchal society, the person who prostitutes themselves is inevitably a woman, the customer is male, and the gender is not arbitrarily interchangeable. Prostitution stems from the millennia-old assumption that men have a right to sex, a right to satisfaction that women have to serve. Prostitution reproduces a social norm that puts the fulfillment of male sexuality above that of female sexuality. Consent to sex is bought and the customer can concentrate entirely on satisfying his needs and ignore those of the prostitute. The same applies to pornography. Pornographic depictions and humiliating depictions of women have existed in all ages. As long as pornography and prostitution are not abolished worldwide, there will never be equal rights for women, nor security and freedom, nor a life free of fear, because from the first day of life, perverted men with violent cocks will be lurking around every corner. A lot has to change, otherwise global femicide will be unstoppable. Let's see how long men can survive after the female sex has been eradicated. For the sake of this planet, it is to be hoped that this will not be the case for too long."

“Some women hate it so much that I would hear them vomiting in the bathroom between scenes. I would find others outside, smoking endless chains of Marlboro Lights… But the multi-billion dollar porn industry wants you to believe the fantasy that we porn actresses love sex. They want you to buy into the lie that we enjoy being degraded by all kinds of repulsive acts. Creatively edited films and prettified packaging are designed to brainwash consumers into believing that the lust we portray on hot and bothered faces are part of the act. But the reality is women are in unspeakable pain from being slapped, bit, spit upon, kicked and called names like “filthy little whore” and “toilet cunt.”
― Shelley Lubben, Truth Behind the Fantasy of Porn: The Greatest Illusion on Earth
“Prostitution, to me, is like slavery with a mask on, just as it is like rape with a mask on, and we were no more recompensed for the abuse of our bodies by our punters’ cash than slaves were recompensed by the food and lodgings provided by their slave masters.”
― Rachel Moran, Paid For: My Journey Through Prostitution
These are real women, real stories, and hard truths that many women have faced as a result of prostitution. I am going to leave you to sit with this post and I hope that you will help support this cause even if it is not through a petition but in some other way that help us fight against the use of porn. It is a complicated issue to fight for and there are so many details about these corrupt businesses. I advise you to think about the impact porn and sex work creates in our society.
