Today, I would like to post a short story I wrote a year or so ago for an English class I had. The class taught me new skills that I did not know I had. I have written so many essays that I have forgotten what writing for fun was like.
Earlier this week, on April 1, 2025, I found an old story that ,I wrote years ago when I was in high school, and it gave me an idea to dig through all of my pieces of writing I have completed over the years.
So.... today I will be posting a short story called "Til' Death Do Us Part." It is a story involving the thriller genre and the story is meant to be descriptive. Later on in my life, I would like to add to this story and develop it further.
WARNING: Some gore content is involved. Read at your own discretion. The story includes blood, murder, and mental health awareness. There is some profanity as well at the end :p
I hope you enjoy the story. Feel free to share your own short stories with me if you would like to. I can add your story to the forum section of my website and credit you for your work if you are interested in sharing your story. (P.S. I am still working on finishing my post about Lanval, but it has taken me longer than I wanted to. I have exams coming up soon, so I am not able to write as much as I would like to.)
Til' Death Do Us Part
Jackson and Tiffany have the kind of love you see in the movies. The kind of relationship where there are few to no problems. They love each other, trust one another, and communicate exceptionally well, considering that Jackson is not a big talker. At 9 pm every night, Jackson and Tiffany call one another for one hour to discuss their day. They call each other on the phone every night and say good morning every day. Jackson picks Tiffany up in his red Ram truck for work on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tiffany makes Jackson breakfast in bed on Monday mornings and Friday mornings.
It was November 5th, 2002, Jackson and Tiffany decided to go out on a date because it was their 10th anniversary of being married. Kelsey’s is Tiffany’s favourite restaurant because they make the bread rolls from scratch. The cute couple patiently waited for their food to arrive when Jackson’s phone started ringing, and of course, he forgot to turn off his ringer. Classic Jackson move.
“Oh, hold on, honey. I am getting a phone call from a random number.”
“Well, do you have to answer it right now?”
“It might be someone from work. The new assistant is on desk duty tonight.”
Standing near the entrance of the restaurant, Jackson’s jaw drops as he hears the voice on the other line. It was Rebecca. Silly Jackson, did you forget to mention Rebecca to your new wife?
Three weeks have passed, and Jackson has neglected to mention the phone call to Tiffany. Rebecca threatened to murder his family if he told Tiffany about the phone call.
On Tuesday night, the rain poured down on the asphalt. As the rain hit the ground, small droplets of rain splashed upward, sideways, and in all directions. The only two sources of light were the moon and the lamppost near Rebecca’s driveway. Her dad installed it a few years ago because he knew that they needed it. The lamp post had a small micro camera hidden near the top of the post because Rebecca had been known to cause disruptions in the neighborhood. This time her hallucination was worse than ever before; it got the best of her.
Tip tap, tip tap, tip tap, drops of dark red blood hit the pavement on the curb. Rebecca was dragging the body across her yard. The grass lay flat as the body scraped over the patches. Her eyes were wide and full like a moon pool. Her smile was large, and she was laughing hysterically.
Jackson sat on her porch waiting for her to return. He was planning on discussing her stalking habits around his wife. He was waiting for Rebecca to arrive back from work, but she never answered her phone calls or text messages. “Rebecca, what have you done this time?!?” Rebecca laughs and continues to drag the body towards the garage. Jackson follows Rebecca frantically and chases after her. “Rebecca! What have you done? Go inside and clean up okay…I will take care of this.” Rebecca stumbles over a rock and walks into the house, slamming the door behind her for the whole neighborhood to hear. “Rebecca, be quiet!”
Jackson picks up the body and drops it immediately. His pupils dilate, his throat runs dry, gasping for air into his lungs. The body was Tiffany. Recoiling his nose away from her and tears filled his eye sockets. Jackson plummets to the ground, knees first. His hands ripped at the grass as anger and heartbreak ate away at his insides. Jackson collects himself and bolts inside the house, he checks to see if anyone is home. He lost Rebecca again. She was nowhere to be seen. Jackson did the only thing he thought he should do: destroy the evidence.
The body was dumped in a pond 2 hours away from Rebecca’s house. Jackson released the body, and it sank instantly as a rock would. The water sloshed around, and Tiffany sank to the bottom of the algae-covered pond. The bubbles on the top of the surface popped and disappeared like they never even existed in the first place.
Sweat particles dripped down the middle of Jackson’s forehead and slid down his nose. Lungs expanded and contracted faster than ever. His boots leave imprints on the muddy ground, he can feel the weight of his boots becoming stuck in the mud. His breath becomes heavy as he pulls his boots out of the mud, one foot at a time.
“What am I doing??!! Dumping my OWN wife in a pond?!! I have gone mad! I have gone absolutely mad! This is all Rebecca’s fault. What a crazy bitch!”
