7 Day Grateful Challenge

Updated: Feb 23

My brother and I have two special Bibles that include little activities we can complete throughout different chapters. There are different versions of Bibles and within those versions you can find ones that are specifically for woman and men. They are not altered or anything like that but they include extra pages of quizzes, reflection pieces, and other activities.

In my brother's Bible there was an activity where you have to write down 10 things that you are grateful or thankful for that God has given you. Here is the catch, you have to write 10 new things everyday. They cannot be the same as the next day. I wanted to share this with everyone so that you can try out the challenge too. It may be hard or easy depending on the person and their life. This will help you see life from a different perspective, humble yourself, and help you realize that you have a lot to be thankful/grateful for. This will help you realize that you should not take anything for granted and know that not everyone has the same opportunities as you do. Everyone's list will be different or slightly similar. I hope this list will help you think about life and God a little differently (in a positive way). You will realize that God had given you a lot more than you may realize.

Okay, let us dive right in!

Rules for doing it properly:

  1. For the next 7 days you will create a list of 10 things that you are grateful for.

  2. Everyday must include 10 different things than the previous day.

  3. You cannot look at other people's lists or ask for ideas. It is a personal list that you must think about and write. The reason for this is so that you do not get influenced by other people's ideas/thinking. If you are doing it with others make sure you each have a space to write your own.

  4. You can share your list after you have finished writing it or writing out each day.

  5. Write down the date each time you make your list. (Optional) I am personally extremely sentimental so I like writing dates on everything I write, paint, draw, and etc..

  6. Remember to have fun with it and be as creative as you would like to be! You can make your list as pretty and colourful as you want it to be.

Example template for your list:

Day 1 : (Insert/write date here)

  1. The sunshine/sun rising everyday 6. I am grateful for my parents

  2. The ability to see 7. Being mentally healthy (kind of, aha..)

  3. The ability to hear 8. Not having any physical disabilities

  4. Never worrying about food 9. Never worrying about where I'm sleeping

  5. Having a non-abusive family 10. Grateful for the ability to work.

Day 2 : (Insert/write date here)

  1. What are you thankful/grateful for? 6. What are you thankful/grateful for?

  2. What are you thankful/grateful for? 7. What are you thankful/grateful for?

  3. What are you thankful/grateful for? 8. What are you thankful/grateful for?

  4. What are you thankful/grateful for? 9. What has God done for you?

  5. What has God done for you? 10. What has God done for you?

You can keep going until you have reached 7 days.

I want to be clear when I say that even though my list might not look like yours, it does not make it any less valid. Once again, these are personal lists for yourself. You can share them if you want to but you do not need to either. Everyone's list will look different and there is nothing wrong with that.

I hope you try this out and have fun with it! Feel free to send me your list if you would like to share it with me personally or you can share it in the comment section and forum section. When you are done doing 7 days and you are up for a bigger challenge then go ahead and try 10 days. Now, that will be hard ;P ..... or easy? You'll never know until you try.
